ORGANIZATION
Algebra I--9th Grade
Materials:
Folder for
keeping papers together
Loose-leaf or typing paper--no fuzzy edges
Pencil--all work will be done in pencil unless you are specifically
told otherwise
Pen--for correcting
Assignment sheet--in folder with vocabulary. This will be intermittently
checked for a grade.
You may substitute the use of an assignment book.
Calculator-- A TI-34II is adequate, but others may be used.
If you are buying a new one, you may want to consider a graphing
calculator.
Groups:
Cooperative
groups will be used a lot for various activities. Groups will be assigned by Mrs. Gomer.
Roles: These may vary with the size of the group.
Roles will change from activity to activity, but in general:
1.
Leader--gets the activity started and keeps the group on task.
2.
Recorder--records data, writes the final report with the help of the
group.
3.
Reporter--will report to the large group if necessary.
4.
Materials Person--gets materials (manipulatives, calculators, etc.) as
needed and puts them away at the end of class.
He/She is responsible for things that must be kept until another class
period.
Group
rules:
1.
Everyone participates and helps when asked.
2.
Everyone is responsible for his/her own learning.
3.
Do not ask the teacher for help until you have asked everyone in your
group first.
Responsibilities:
1.
Keep track of your books, papers and things.
Keep your area neat.
2.
Organize your time so that all assignments (daily, weekly, and long term)
are done on time. Late work
receives half credit.
3.
Be a productive, constructive part of which ever group you are in.
4.
Do the best you can at whatever you attempt.
