VISUALIZING FOLDS
Imagine a square piece of paper labeled ABCD as shown. Name the figure that you would get by folding the paper as indicated below. Try to visualize each result in your head. Do not cut or fold any paper.
1. Fold A onto B.
2. Fold A onto C.
3. Fold A onto the midpoint of side AD.
4. Fold A onto B and then fold C onto B.
5. Fold A onto C and then fold B onto D.
6. Fold A onto C and then fold B onto C.
7. Fold both A and B onto the midpoint of side AB.
8. Fold all four corners onto the center of the square.
Now cut out a square piece of paper and label it as shown above. Then do each of the eight folds and check your answers. If any were incorrect, try to find out where your visualizations went wrong.
