Paper Books

GRADE LEVEL:  2-Adult

PURPOSE:  To give students practice in following oral directions.  To create a book for recording various information.

KEY WORDS:  Following directions, data collection

MATERIALS:  Plain white paper

PROCEDURE:

  1. Fold 3 or 4 sheets of paper in half—hamburger style.
  2. Mark all sheets in from the end the same distance (about the length of your thumb).
  3. Cut 1 piece of paper along the fold between the marks.
  4. Cut the other pieces of paper along the fold outside the marks.
  5. Take the 2 or 3 pieces of paper and roll them up hot dog.
  6. Put them through the piece that is cut between the marks and unroll.

ASSESSMENT:  Book is properly formed and used for the assigned task.

STANDARDS:  SD State Content Standards

EXTENSION: This little book may be used to record data from an activity.  It can also be used as a journal in math or in any other subject
