When the week
is finally over,
It is wonderful to go
And putter in my garden,
Where I watch the flowers grow.
It is pleasant in my garden
As I cultivate the seeds,
I plant and hoe and water,
As I clear away the weeds.
Though its frantic at the work place,
Here I leave that all behind,
And the calm within my garden,
Gives me peace of mind.

Here is a stella
d'oro lily. I got my first one in 1999 and since then I have been dividing
it.

These are plants I
saw on the campus of Southeast Technical Institute in the summer of 2000.

This blue fescue
nestled in between petunias, alyssum and marigolds is one that I
successfully started from seed. It is one of three that survived the
transplant to the garden. I like its refreshing blue color.

These irises were
given to me by friends. The puprle, lavendar and mauve colors all coordinate with each other.
They are planted in my backyard.

It took me three
years to successfully transplant the purple lupines from my old garden. I
started them from seed that was a gift from my grandparents. The yarrow in
the foreground was a gift from the previous gardener. I think the two
plants complement each other very well. They are in my circle garden which
can be seen from my kitchen window. The pink yarrow bloom all summer and
I've been able to transplant pieces of them to other flowerbeds.

These flowers are in
my mailbox garden. Of 50 lily bulbs only the pale yellow ones have
survived year after year. The red flowers are California double red
poppies that seed themselves every year. I save some seed each year and
would be happy to share, just drop me a line. The yellow flowers are
coreopsis which bloom all summer.

Here is another view
of my circle garden. Purple cone flowers or Echinacea are in the
background with yellow daisies in the middle ground. There are also leaves
of iris.

This is Chester, in
this picture he is taking a dip at the creek which he likes to do whenever
he has the chance. Usually though he is sleeping in one of my flowerbeds,
he prefers the shady parts best and he loves it better if I have just
watered the plants. Of course, if the ground isn't just perfect for
sleeping he'll dig around and rearrange things to his liking.
