The annual Deubrook Alumni Banquet was held on Saturday, July 21, 2007 at the Deubrook High School Gym, White, SD. Joyce (Papka) Swenson and Mary (Barron) Lenz, from the class of 1957 greeted the guests and served punch during the social time.

David Iverson DAA President gave the invocation. Irene's by Julie of Hendricks, MN. served the dinner. The local FFA members assisted in the serving along with their advisor, Kevin Quail.

The Business meeting was called to order by President, David Iverson. David gave the treasurer's report and Kathy McKinney read the Secretary's report in the absence of Sec/Treas. Jill Wilts. Reports were approved as read.

Myron Johnson, member of the Scholarship committee gave the Scholarship report. They are still in the process of taking donations for this fund. It is their goal to reach $10,000 so the fund could be self sufficient. At this time they have raised $2300.00. Further donations are being sought. They recommended to the assembly present that a $500 scholarship be given to the recipient at the annual Awards banquet. It was so moved to proceed with this scholarship.

Discussion was held on the All-School Alumni Banquet to be held in 2009 in conjunction with the 125th anniversary of White. Addresses and mailing will be sought for this purpose. This would also be the 70th anniversary of the Alumni Association, as it was started in 1939. Volunteers to help with the All School reunion in 2009 are needed. Myron Johnson, Vice President will be the new President of the Alumni Association in 2008. Vice President (and President elect) for 2008 will be Kathy (Trulock) Lindner of Watertown, SD. A volunteer to be Secretary and/or Treasurer is being sought. If you are willing to help your alumnus' association in this way please contact Myron Johnson, President. At the Alumni Banquet donations were received for the scholarship raising our total by $580.00. We thank everyone for their donation. If you have not helped your local Alumni Association in this project, we hope you will consider this in the future. Thank You.

    At this time, more than $2300 has been donated to this project.  More funds are needed.  Individual donation have been received along with memorials in memory of a former classmate or White/Toronto/Astoria/DHS former graduate.  At this time, memorials have been received in honor of the following :

    At the present time, there are more than 380 WHS graduates living and more than 1,100 DHS graduates.  If each would consider contributing as little as $5.00, we would exceed the goal of $5000  A donation of $10 each would help exceed our goal of $10,000 and be able to offer larger scholarships as funds are exceeded.  We also encourage former graduates of Astoria and Toronto, who help make up the DEUBROOK Area Schools to make a donation.
